Open Call
Public Arts Trust of India and India Institute of Technology, Jodhpur
Collaborative Residency Programme
The Public Arts Trust of India (PATI) and the Indian Institute of Technology Jodhpur (IITJ) are pleased to announce an Open Call from artists whose work straddles the disciplines of art, design, technology, science and digital innovation.
Part of a new strategic partnership with IITJ’s Center of Excellence on Art and Digital Immersion (ADI) at the School of Liberal Arts (SoLA), the residency has been designed as an extracurricular initiative, in alignment with SoLA's vision for a transdisciplinary, inclusive, and forward-thinking liberal humanist approach while breaking down disciplinary silos.
The selected artist-in-residence will be expected to engage with life on IITJ’s campus, with full access to the university’s lecture programme, resources and expertise through the extensive faculty cohort. You’ll have ample opportunity to expand and enrich your practice and creative processes through collaborations with the student body and faculty.
A unique platform to share your work and ideas with a new audience, the intention is to also equip IITJ’s students for the future, fostering global citizenship, innovative research, and societal contributions while addressing contemporary challenges. Focusing on experiential learning, transdisciplinary collaboration, and impactful research in under-explored areas of Indian humanities and social sciences.
The resident will be expected to produce new work in collaboration with IITJ’s students and the wider communities of Jodhpur that will be showcased during Jodhpur Arts Week Special Projects Edition in October 2024 in the very heart of the city at Toorji Ka Jhalra (Stepwell Square). The festival will be a precursor to Edition 1.0 in September 2025, sharing work from PATI’s ongoing residency programmes and Art Education initiatives in collaboration with the communities of Jodhpur’s historic Walled City.
